Love Local Project; Let’s Art About It!

Another amazing business that has a lot to share in our #supportlocalproject2020 is Let’s Art About It! Located at 36 E 14 Mile Rd. Clawson and was founded and is owned by Shazia Siddiqi. She is a mother to two children (one and five), and adjunct faculty at Wayne State University, opened this small business single-handedly in November 2019 as a way help make mental health care and emotional wellness more mainstream, fun, and group-connection focused, because we ALL experience loss, grief, sadness, worry, and stress, and art can serve as your voice when you have no words but your heart aches to be be heard and understood. No art skills or experience are ever required.

Nicole and I got the chance to take a little peak into this delightful studio dedicated to helping adults use art as therapy, and I couldn’t love the concept more! I’ve witnessed my kindergartener use art as a way to decompress from her busy school day but never thought about it in a therapeutic way for myself until meeting Shazia. It just makes sense! Needless to say I am starting to participate in coloring right alongside my kids when the day gets to feel like too much. So rewarding! I asked Shazia some questions about her new business and she had this to share:

What are you currently doing to keep your business open? If you are not currently open, what are your reopening plans?

“Since the first week of our stay at home order in March, Let’s Art About It has been offering daily virtual Art Therapy workshops focused on using art making to explore topics such as Coping with Change and Finding Calm During Chaos with owner Shazia Siddiqi, who is a Board Certified Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor with an MA in Art Therapy and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Let’s Art About It has also been offering virtual individual counseling, donation-based Dance-Movement and Art classes, free therapeutic art directives through social media, and has partnered with several agencies and nonprofit organizations to provide services across Metro Detroit.”

How can your clients contact you to support your business?

“The physical studio will be open with precautions in place for individual one-on-one counseling and art therapy, as well as for small private groups by appointment only starting Saturday, June 6.  Virtual offerings will also continue on. Clients can support Let’s Art About It by purchasing a gift card, booking an appointment, or planning and pre-booking a stress relief or mental health wellness party for your family, friends, or business. Visit www.letsartaboutit.com, email info@letsartaboutit.com, or call 248-397-4649.”

I loved getting to know Shazia and see her passion for therapeutic art in her dedicated space. Thank you for providing a much needed service to our community and sharing your passion with us!
