Eat + Sleep @ Zender’s Splash Village in Frankenmuth, MI
For Christmas this year we decided to change things up for gifts in our family. I knew how many great gifts our girls were getting from our extended family so the idea of trying to find gifts for them from us seemed like a daunting task. Not to mention my husband had the week before Christmas off so it seemed like the perfect timing to offer an experience for their Christmas gift instead of traditional gifts. Tegan is 7 and Matilda is 3 so they are at a great age to enjoy a short family trip.
We chose to book the Eat and Sleep Package for a few reasons.
New Christmas jammies for the win!
Neither my husband or I had ate at Zender's but have heard great things about the Famous Chicken dinner. This package included the famous chicken dinner and the idea of eating at such an iconic spot would be fun. I had heard a few bad reviews from people who had the Zender's dinner in years past so I was hesitantly optimistic. But honestly, the food was delicious. Not to mention the atmosphere. I felt like we had went back in time to my great-grandmothers house and she was in the back cooking for us. Color me sentimental but I loved that. It felt really down home and comforting.
Breakfast the next day at Elf Hollow Cafe. Having two kids that open their eyes and say “I'm hungry” without fail made the breakfast at Elf Hollow Cafe the next morning, in our hotel, made this package well worth it. They had assortment of juice, scrambled eggs, waffles, donuts and pastries, bagels, bacon, sausage, and it was all you can eat. My girls might not look it but they can EAT. I think most of our money on family trips like this goes to feeding them and keeping them full. If they are full, they are happy. A breakfast out like that would have easily cost us upwards of $60 for all of us.
Walking upstairs to our room. Since we were visiting Splash Village in December it was fairly cold outside. When I considered staying at another hotel near by to possibly save some money I realized the convenience of staying at Splash Village and being able to walk up a set of stairs to our room. This comes in handy as you could see the tiredness come over both girls as soon as we walked out of the waterpark. The less walking after all that fun, the better time we all had.
When considering the overall cost of our hotel stay, dinner, breakfast, and our waterpark passes for essentially two days, the Eat and Sleep package was a no brainer. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, everything felt incredibly clean, and the Famous Chicken Dinner was great! If you're looking for a fun getaway for your young family, I strongly suggest giving Splash Village at Frankmuth a visit.
