Why You Should Consider Pinterest for Business
Pinterest marketing has been picking up in popularity and many are asking: “WHY?” With so many platforms to choose from, why would Pinterest be the growing place to market you business or brand? I have seen an influx of questions along these lines so I thought I would offer the big benefits and perks of marketing on this underestimated virtual search engine.
The Life Span of a Pin
Did you know that the life span of a pin, aka how long your pin can be seen and will show up on searches, is two years? TWO years. Consider that against the 48 hours your IG post has. It’s no contest.
Pinterest Supports Creators
It’s really simple when it comes to Pinterest and the investment that has been made when it comes to their algorithm: they want your content to be seen! The more fresh content you share, the better your pin and board descriptions are, the harder Pinterest will work for you to share your content with the right people. It feels far more authentic and less like other platforms we could name that creates a need to “beat the algorithm.” The happier you are as a creator, the more you share. The more you share the more content there is to provide their nearly 11 billion searches. Win-Win.
Less Drama
In a similar approach in supporting their creators work, they also don’t promote negative content. Politicizing or negative pins are not supported and are very rare to be found on this platform. This has been an added bonus for us social media strategists! But for those of you considering a business account on Pinterest this is pleasant since you’re less likely to become sidetracked by an inflammatory post your aunt has on Facebook. With Facebook and Twitter becoming the fact checking scream fest, us over in the Pinterest world are enjoying ourselves.
275 Million Users
I’m just going to put it bluntly, Facebook is not the place to be marketing your business. There, I said it. The audience on Facebook is not exposing you to millions of new users. It’s comprised of your friends and family who are currently in a heated debate about a topic you’ve been trying to avoid for the past year. Ya feel me? If you’re serious about growing your business and making that bank, you need to stop playing small. And Facebook is small. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t post anything to Facebook. You can have your content auto-posted to FB for those few friends who are cheering you on. But where the real exposure lies is on Pinterest. It’s said that Pinterest makes up for 48% of website traffic. That’s more than IG, FB, AND Youtube combined.
Discover What Your Audience Loves
Pinterest not only exposes your content to perspective customers but it also gives you 1) free content and 2) a better sense of your customers.
With each pin you share, you should be re-pinning someone else’s pin as well. You should 8-10 boards, all curated to draw in what your ideal customer is on Pinterest searching for. For example: you offer social media management services. Your boards could be:
“Social Media Tips for _____________” (ideal business you want to work with.)
“Font Inspiration.”
“Productivity Hacks.”
“My Blogs”
All boards should be based on a topic your ideal customer is on Pinterest for. Your pins will fit within these board categories in one way or another so that these ideal customers can find your content.
The pins you share that are not your original content will also give you insight into what your ideal customer prefers. You can track what pins perform the best and which boards are most popular.
Higher Conversion
What’s especially unique about Pinterest compared to other platforms is the conversion rate. There are far less steps in a users journey to buying from you. This means that visitors from Pinterest convert into leads or sales faster than from other social media sources.
Twitter is a great example of this. If a user sees a product shared in a tweet they are far less likely to purchase it unless it’s a celebrity endorsed product. And I’m guessing you don’t have the cash to fork over that kind of publicity.
So those are some of the top reasons why you should start using Pinterest for your business. If you’re looking to take that next step into marketing your business on Pinterest, snag my Profitable Pins Course now!
